All one has to do is to add a few drops of water (it can be sea water) to the powder to create a paste or mask which can be applied to the affected areas.

As water sports enthusiasts we have always carried meat tenderizer with us on our travels. It is the papain or papaya enzyme in meat tenderizer that is the active ingredient; it works on meat by predigesting protein making it tender... Bees and jellyfish sting using a type of protein or protease, hence it's effectiveness.

Here's how it works:

1. Upon initial application of Sting Recover the papain digests and neutralizes the protease from the sting.
2. The powdered aloe, powdered vitamin E and zinc oxide, which is used in calamine lotion for rashes, kick in and calm the skin.
3. The clay we use is marketed as a mask for the face. As the clay mask dries it draws impurities, or in this case, poison from the skin. Once the mask has dried it can be washed off.

Our three phase approach is not 100% effective but it is the best solution we've been able to come up with. I've sat in marshes and allowed horseflies to bite me, purposely stung myself with bees, and waded out into a bay, picked up a jellyfish and stung myself.

As you can tell, I'm quite the maniac when it comes to testing our products. (By the way, the jellyfish wasn't harmed, just a little angry.)
